Selena Anise (Butter) is a tattoo artist based in Santa Cruz, California. Art and creativity are at the core of everything she does, shaping her vision and approach across all mediums. Over the past 10 years, she has honed her artistic style and built her career as a multi faceted independent artist. In 2021, she began a tattoo apprenticeship and fully immersed herself in the craft. Now she primarily focuses her time on tattooing and creating flash designs.
With a strong background in watercolor, illustration, digital art, and a variety of other creative mediums, Selena brings a wide range of influences to her tattoo work. Her style blends neotraditional and illustrative elements, while adding her own distinctive touch to every piece.
Her tattoos often have a moody, magical energy, described by many as "whimsical grunge," with careful attention to detail and storytelling. Inspired by nature, art nouveau, gothic architecture, and mystical themes, Selena's work carries a personal, intentional touch to everything client she works with.
She offers both custom designs and flash pieces, working closely with each client to bring their ideas to life. Selena places a lot of care into composition and flow, making sure each piece fits the body's natural curves and feels truly one of a kind. She values collaboration throughout the process, creating a comfortable space for clients to share their ideas while using her artistic expertise to guide and refine the design making her tattoos feel personal, unique, and thoughtfully crafted.
